Who it’s for

Students entering AP World History, AP European History, or AP U.S. History this fall.

Bring your summer assignment. Leave with it done — and a system for the year.

The day

8:00 AM – 8:00 PM · Come and go

The day is yours to shape. Two fixed points anchor it — your 1:1 and a check-in at the end. The hours in between are open: work at your pace, or step out to the beach and come back.

01

Your 1:1

Scheduled and dedicated — the one block to be here for. Reading and annotation, note-taking, historical analysis: the skills AP History actually grades.

02

Work at your pace

Real progress on real assignments in a room built for focus — or slip out to the beach and come back. Coffee, sparkling water, and snacks all day.

03

The final check-in

Close the day together — a look at what you moved forward, and where it points for the semester.

Doors open 8 to 8. Be here for your 1:1 and the final check-in — the rest of the day is yours.

The space

The kind of light that makes an 11-hour day feel short

Held at Sunset Loft, steps from the sand in Venice Beach — ocean views, workspaces, and rooms built for focus.

Secured parking nearby, with in-and-out privileges.

Sunlit workspace with a view over the water
Open living and dining room in daylight

Getting here

Address
18 N. Venice Blvd, Unit A — a blue three-story building with a black front gate, steps from the ocean.

In the loft

  • Both bedrooms are closed for the day. The Brick Room and the Blue Room are off-limits — everyone works in the common areas.
  • Full kitchen, coffee and filtered water, two bathrooms, a glass blackboard, and fast Wi-Fi.
  • A quiet residential building — please be considerate of the neighbors, no smoking, and shake off the sand (there’s a hose in the front garden).
  • Bring your summer assignment, a laptop, and a charger.

Why it works

The structure carries it

The Jumpstart isn’t built around one teacher — it’s built around a structure. A dedicated 1:1, hours of focused work, and an end-of-day check-in that turns momentum into a plan for the fall.

It runs inside a container designed for it: a calm, light-filled loft steps from the sand, with an experienced AP History instructor from our team. Bring the assignment — the format does the rest.

After the Jumpstart

Every student leaves with target goals for the semester.

And every family receives a discount on school-year tutoring packages with Tier One.
